want, want, want...

I think I'll tell you about my dream kitchen. As in, REALLY DREAMING.

Plus, the kitchen really is determined by the house I end up getting. If I got an older house, this dream would work.

It is all appliances of course.

My first DREAM is for an amazing oven. I have two thoughts on what I would like.

My first choice would be a refurbished 1950 Chambers Model 61C. Yup. I know, Rachael Ray's stove. But it's SO beautiful! I just love those 50's appliances. So amazing. Fred's grandma had this INCREDIBLE stove that I always wanted to get the name and model of so I would know in the future. He never remembered to get it for me and since he's HISTORY, I guess I'll never know. Too bad too because that stove actually had a piece that closed over it so that the range was covered and slid out when you used it. So cool. You can find them here!

My second choice would be a 36" Viking - dual fuel because it's so much nicer. I have to admit that since the Viking store went in on Main Street near my office in Memphis, I have been in love with Viking. I would love a traditional stainless steel version, but since I'm DREAMING, I'll go for the red one. Sweet.

Next, I'll choose a fridge.

My first refrigerator choice would be a Northstar Model 1950, preferably in Flamingo Pink. Ha ha. Just kidding! I don't want a pink fridge. The color I got would depend on what color Chambers stove I had...or Viking, of course.

My second choice would just be some type of french door refrigerator with a bottom mount freezer. I hate having to bend over to get stuff out of the fridge. I truly enjoy a freezer on the bottom, although I have only had one in my life.

To match my new Northstar fridge, I would have to get a new microwave. Duh.

Of course, I'm not really caring what my dishwasher is, as long as I have one. And as long as it perfectly matches my microwave AND fridge.

Finally, I will probably like to have a breakfast area in the kitchen (in addition to my separate dining room). To go with the times, I would need to get a

Saarinen Tulip table and some matching chairs. Or, like in the picture, some Saarinen dining chair. Or, even some

Eames molded plastic chairs. 

If I had to pick fabric with my Knoll chairs, I would have to go with a Knoll textile of some sort. For a solid, I might go with

Classic Boucle in chartreuese

or another one called

Hopsack in Lime.

If I wanted a print, I might go with

Gala in lime or

Lyric in Poem.

In the end, you can never go wrong with Miele, but that's only in my modern dream house.

p.s. I might as well add my washer and dryer to the mix!!

Unemployment Day 74

Mom, Randy and myself went to see Sherlock Holmes. It was good, of course. However, I would say that about nearly all RDJr. movies except his super bad ones.

It was kind of slow but it was still good. Jude Law was great. RDJr. was great. Rachel McAdams was her usual cute ass self. It was just a good movie. Although sometimes, with British accents and quick talking, I have to think a little bit to figure out what they are saying.

Also today I finished Mom's Christmas present. The casserole carrier one. I need to take a picture of it because it came out really cute. I did take pictures of the apron but haven't loaded my camera stuff onto the computer yet. I did start to move my music to my BRAND NEW PORTABLE HARD DRIVE!! Woo! Now I can finally add ALL my music to my Itunes! Woo!

Unemployment Day 73

It's Christmas day. It was a good Christmas day.

I'm very excited because I got a new camera! Woo! More pictures in the new year!

I also got an external hard drive but I'll have to figure out what to do about my outdated windows. I need to upgrade. Soon.

We're sitting here watching Lars and the Real Girl. It's actually a really good movie, if not a bit odd.

I also got some sweet new kicks for Christmas from Santa Dad. Sweet. I'll be riding a horse before the end of next year if we don't watch out!

Not much has been going on other than Christmas. Mom and I have been getting ready for Christmas at the house. We also went to Aunt Vicki's yesterday for their annual Christmas drop by. We went to Mass after that. I also went to see my dad yesterday. He has to have an upper GI next week. He's not looking forward to that.

I guess I'll be going home on Sunday if the weather is good. We'll see. For now I'm just going to hang out and not do much. Woo. Although I do need to finish Colleen's present. Or rather, start it! Ha!

I guess that's all I have to say. I hope everyone had a great Christmas!!

Unemployment Day 70

Ha! Sitting here on Mom's loveseat watching Kelly and Mark, because Regis must be on vacation. Have I ever mentioned how much I love Kelly Ripa? Yeah, I know, weird. But she totally cracks me up! Plus, remember Scrubs? Kelly Ripa!!

I wonder how many of the Rockettes are men, ala Vegas? Sorry, they are on Regis and Kelly right now.

So Venus and I drove down here yesterday. It was an easy trip although Venus chose to shed all over me. And, I stopped at my favorite stopping place in Collins and got a big Dr. Pepper. In a styrofoam cup. As soon as I was on the highway, the cup BROKE! It sprayed DP all over my behind and I'm sure on Venus, who was hiding under my seat! It was so sticky horrible! Plus, then, I couldn't drink it without it spilling because the break was right in the middle/side!

Venus enjoys sleeping under my seat when I drive. Every once in a while she'll appear under my legs and talk to me about whatever is on her mind. She likes to lean against my driving foot. Very safe, you know.

The weekend was pretty eventful. Friday, as I stated earlier, was a day at the movies! Woo! I went to see New Moon, which I have to admit I enjoyed THOROUGHLY. When I got into the theater ($4 at the Plaza for the first movie every day) I was the only one in there. Then, this kind of weird guy walks in and without even looking around, sits directly on the front row. Finally, after the lights went out, another girl showed up so I felt a little better being in a dark theater with a creepy guy. Then another two girls came in. Anyway, about 3/4 of the way through the movie, creepy guy left. Weird, right? Right.

Then I met up with the sisters in Independence for dinner and drinks at Chilis. Then home.

Saturday, I met up with Adam and we had a heart to heart that ended just like I figured it would. Whatever. It's hard to move on when you KNOW that someone still loves you.

After that I went to Alicia's to help her get ready for Wyatt's 4th bday party at 1 pm. After the party, I went home and napped and worked on presents.

Sunday, we met up at Cindy's for our Christmas over there. The boys loved their capes and swords. Leah was a cute little monster as usual. She's so ornery!

Then we drove here! Woo!

Coco just came in with Mom and jumped up on the loveseat with me. She forgot I was here and ended up peeing on me and the loveseat in her excitement! Oops! Poor puppy and her piddle problem!

Well, I guess that's it for now. Mom and I have errands we need to run! Laters!

Unemployment Day 65

Why hello. How's it going?

As usual, taking a little break at the public library. Holy crap guys! I'm nearly done with my sewing extravaganza! I actually should be home right now finishing up the last project but my stupid sewing machine needle got STICKIED to the fabric after I tried to sew Velcro onto fabric with a sticky back. The resulting annoyance was horrible. I changed needles KNOWING what would happen, but I still tried to sew it. Grrr...now I have two sticky needles and only one inche of stitching.

It was a perfect time for a short break. And a shower. And something to eat. That's right. On marathon sewing days apparently my metabolism is non-existent. I seem to neither eat nor drink as much as usual. I really need to be drinking more water but I always seems to knock it over. On my project.

Anyway, I just wanted to give you all a quick hello before I made it home for more torture. I think I'm going to use tomorrow as a "me" kind of day by going to see a movie. I'm too embarrassed to tell you what movie so just guess. Anyway, after the movie, I have some final holiday shopping to engage in...hopefully I will be done with my sewing by then! If not, Saturday morning (before Wyatt's birthday party) will be a messy, thread-laden morning! Man, I am as messy at sewing as I am at baking!
